The master bathroom is suffering from a humidity problem on the shower wall. The tiny little window above the shower is difficult to open, and when opened the branches of the outside vines snuck in. I wanted to open the window but the apartment is NOT HEATED so DO NOT RENT if you are going in the winter months. I went to Lima in September 2011 and the weather was miserable...60s, rain and not much sun; during the night the temperatures can dip down unto the 50s.
I did buy an authentic alpaca blanket in Aguas Calientes when I hiked Machu Picchu mid-stay. The blanket was enough to keep me warm while under it, but getting out of a hot shower to a 50 degree something apartment was difficult when fresh towels were not provided during the stay.
Since I was only planning on staying at the apartment a couple days before and after the trek to Machu Picchu, I overlooked a lot of the minor details as I am a vacation rental home owner myself, so I understand the difficulty of keeping a vacation property maintained and operating smoothly. The apartment is secure and the doormen are very nice. I was surprised by the HEAT issue; so keep that in mind if you are coming seasonally.
