We checked in to one of their properties on the 14t/h of August (At the Beach).
After returning from dinner we noticed a sour smell and water dripping from the vents in the master bedroom.
Looking around we opened the door for the AC system and too are surprise the system was covered with water and the light fixture had water dripping from it and the light did not work. The corner beads for the walls were rusted. There was black extending from the vents that looked like mold.
At this time the offices for Royal Shell was closed until Monday morning.
The total bill for the rental can out to $4,073.92 we paid it via AMEX this was for seven nights.
After the first night I was experiencing headaches and having problems breathing along with other members of my family.
I was very concerned with my family’s health and safety being in the house.
The first thing Monday morning we reported the problem with the house to the office and they sent two company personnel’s to inspect the house and agreed with us there was a problem and arranged to move us.
We then had to put are day on hold to wait for the house across the street to be cleaned. At around 4:00 PM it became available. The move took an hour to complete.
This process was a major inconvenience we wasted two of our vacation days dealing with this problem. The day we checkout we spoke to the CEO via phone and was told there was not a problem with the house and they did us a favor by moving us. They quickly presented us with two petri dishes to so called prove there is not a problem with the house with no reference to the water dripping out of the light fixture. The CEO had an, it is not my problem and did you a favor attitude.
I am and have requested a refund of the first two nights in the house totaling $1,163.97.
The company (Royal Shell Vacations) has refused to refund anything for are inconvenience. They have a, did us a favor attitude by moving us. The reality is the problem with the house wasted two of are vacation days. I hope to get a refund for the two days and inform or warn other potential renter of Royal Shell questionable business practices. The problem could have been avoided if they would have inspected the house prior to renting it out. One thing that stuck me strange is how fast they have petri dishes available to so call proves the house does not have mold problems with no reference to the water dripping out of the light fixture.
The company (Royal Shell Vacations) failed to provide a clean and safe rental home for my family.
They do not have a procedure in place to inspect and verify there is not a problem with the property before they rent it out to their customers. The problem with the home was real. They sent two company reps over to the home Monday morning to inspect the home and confirmed that in fact there is a problem.
The interesting thing is they were very prepared to present us with the so called test results for mold. During the conversation the morning we checked out the rep did say we usually perform this test to verify there is no mold problem. That indicates to me this has happened at least one time in the past. We did not leave the windows open as they claim. I travel for a living and have spent a significant amount of time in Florida and have never experienced an AC system having this must condensation dripping from it.
We did not have the AC system set to low the house temp was at 76 degrees. If this is the way Royal Shell chooses to do business so be it but I feel at least the consumers should be warned of this practice.
They put you in a home that is not clean and not safe. Point in fact the water dripping from the light fixture. The idea of blaming me for the problems with the home is crazy. They are the property managers not me and it is 100% their responsibility. I am hoping that the Better Business Bureau at least warns consumers of this incident. They company (Royal Shell Vacations) is not telling the whole story and are covering up the truth. The fact that Royal Shell Vacations refuses to reimburse us anything for are inconvenience tells a lot about the company. They are scam artists and do not care about return customers. They take your money and run with it. Again I hope the consumers are informed that this has happened. I hope providing this complain prevents someone else from having to experience this.
